Whats the minimum age to get laser eye surgery?
There is no minimum age, other than that doctors don’t want to perform the surgery while your eyes are still changing. Your eyes tend to stop changing prescription by your early 20s, so your mid 20s is a grand time to do it. Yes, there are those who will do it earlier. There are certainly other medical conditions that may cause doctors to perform this surgery as part of some other process – but all things being equal, they’ll want to put it off until the prescription stops changing. Why? Well, the surgery removes tissue (burns it away). As of now, there is no good way to put it back. You want to avoid having multiple surgeries over the life of the patient if at all possible. Also, of course, every surgery has risks and if you can preventing having a surgery more than necessary, you are presumably preventing needless injury or death.
