The main ingredient in toothpaste is fluoride. It will either be sodium fluoride or sodium monofluorophosphate. Both are equally good. The other indredients are inactive ingredients. The fluoride helps strengthen your enamel. As far as what the other person said, you don’t make more enamel. You just have what is on your tooth when it erupts, and you use toothpaste to prevent a cavity (which is where acid makes a hole in your enamel). Toothpaste helps to strengthen enamel, not make more.
