Whats the lowdown on the parachute?
The Flightstar has a BRS parachute mounted to its back. Should something really bad happen the parachute can be completely deployed in less than two seconds and will set the airplane down on the ground, bottom first with the nose slightly down from horizontal. The parachute is deployed by a rocket. That is how it can be deployed in less than two seconds. The downside to this deployment is that it costs about $1200 to replace the spent rocket and repack the chute.
