Whats the liberals issue with remembering the fallen?
I can’t speak for other liberals, but I have no problem with “‘remembering the fallen” per se. My problem is with the growing trend toward militarism in this country. which can only end in disaster, if history is any indication. And “remembering the fallen” is only one small aspect of that trend. Last summer, I was laid over in the Atlanta airport, and every half-hour or so, another planeload of troops would literally run through the airport, to the applause and cheers of everyone but me. It was like something out of Orwell, as people glared at me for not applauding. What will come next? More misguided wars? I know oil was high last summer, so I suppose the airline customers appreciated the men who were willing to die for it, but America needs to get a grip. Again, this is just one person’s opinion.
