Whats the least stressful/highest paying job: upscale waitressing, or bartending?

I wouldn’t consider any of those low-stress. You’ll deal with more drunks/advances/annoying people by bartending. But, you can get annoying people while waiting tables, too. With waitressing, I would think you’d have more hours available to work. With bartending, you’d be working evenings and nights only. With waitressing, you’d be able to work some during the days if you wanted to take a few night classes. I just think you’d have more flexibility with a waitressing job. As to the stress-level, a lot of that will depend on which place you work. Upper scale restaurants will certainly be quieter and less stressful than saturday night at a steak house. Also, keep in mind that most waitresses survive on tips and since tips are typically based on the value of the meal, you will make more at a restaurant that has a pricier menu.
