Whats the layout of the house?
Liz: There are four bedrooms upstairs, two baths upstairs and a half-bath downstairs. Downstairs, there’s also a great room, the kitchen, a living room and a dining room. Q. What was your first remodeling project? Jim: We took it room by room. The living room was very tiny. We busted out the wall between the dining room and the living room to open the place up so you could live in it. Liz: We built a garage at that time. We gave the (old) garage to the farmer across the street, and he drove it off and put it up in the field and used it as a heifer barn. Then we gutted the whole downstairs. The next phase was siding and windows. Q. What was your biggest project? Jim:The 22-by-25 great room addition in 2000-2001. That was an adventure. The contractor had fallen off a ladder and was on crutches, and they were putting siding on the addition in a blizzard. He dropped his hammer in the snow. We found his tools the next spring. Q.
