Whats the layout of Ambergris Caye?
Ambergris Caye is 25-miles long and 1-mile wide in some parts. San Pedro, the capital and hub of town, sits in the center of the island. The island is divided by the Boca del Rio (called “the River”), which can be crossed by ferry and costs $1BZ. This erosion channel is just north of San Pedro and separates the main town to its south from the northern resorts, Maya ruins, and the Bacalar Chico National Park and Marine Reserve. South of the River and San Pedro lies more resorts and hotels. The southernmost tip of the island holds the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and swampier areas.
