Whats the latest news on supplemental vitamin D3 and tenderness in beef?

The latest trial, reported by Dr. Mark Miller and colleagues at Texas Tech, showed tenderness to be improved 10% in all genetic types of cattle when fed 0.5 million IU of supplemental vitamin D3 for the eight days prior to slaughter. Compared with prior research at 10X higher levels of D3, the 0.5 million IU dosage doesn’t depress feed intake relative to controls. For more information, contact NCBA, DSM Nutritional Products or Dr. Miller at Texas Tech.
