Whats the key factor to consider in Truck Efficiency?
Horsepower demand. Horsepower demand on the engine can vary significantly from one vehicle to the next and produce substantial differences in vehicle performance even at similar operating conditions. For example, two vehicles with 350 hp engines travel 220 miles at an average speed of 55 mph. At nominal cruising conditions, vehicle “A” demands 165 hp from the engine and vehicle “B” 187 hp, to maintain the same cruising speed with the same loads. Because vehicle “A” requires less horsepower from the engine, it will consume less fuel and have more horsepower in reserve to perform additional work such as climb a hill or pass another vehicle.
