A key effort, in our opinion, in CMMI implementation is the identification of the organization’s actual development life cycle. In other words, what is their reality? Any organization successfully operating and, to some extent, profitably growing must be doing something that *works* for *them* and delivers on customer expectations. Figuring out what that is, for each organization, is key to implementing CMMI. There’s really no magic to it. Another key effort is organizing a process architecture.that simultaneously reflects the reality just discovered and describes where and how process improvement takes place within that reality. If process improvement isn’t taking place, now you know where you need to insert process improvement activities, and, you have some insight into how to best design the process improvement solution for
