Whats the Irish Family Reunion about?
The parade ends at Veteran’s Memorial, which we rent and have what is called the Irish Family Reunion. We’ll have anywhere between 6,000 to 8,000 people, all families, gather there. We have live entertainment, Irish cultural music with step dancers and bagpipers. You bring your own food, and we all enjoy everybody’s company for the afternoon. So, essentially it’s an outdoor family reunion held indoors for the sake of weather? You never know what kind of weather you might get. It might be 60 degrees and sunny or 25 degrees and snowing, so it is a big family picnic and it’s done indoors on St. Patrick’s Day. I’ve been going since I was a little kid. For many folks, the real tradition of St. Patrick’s Day remains focused around drinking green beer and saying “Erin go braugh” over and over and over again. For those readers who aren’t Irish or perhaps don’t fully celebrate their Celtic background, what does St. Patrick’s Day mean to you? I’d say it means a lot of different things to people,
