Whats the highest elevation in the USA ever to record a reliable 100-degree reading?
The record may well be Jackson, Wyo., (elevation 6,200 feet), which recorded a high of 101° on July 17, 1934. In general, it would appear that an elevation of 6,000 to 6,500 feet is the upper limit throughout the West for 100° to be recorded. However, Santa Fe (elevation 7,000 feet) reached 99.5° on June 26, 1994, during the worst heat wave on record in the Southwest USA.
