Whats the healthiest cat food brand so that it would prolong the life of a cat?
You will find many passionate opinions on this subject. Your cat is a senior citizen, and there are formulations for seniors. I have posted a link from the Cornell vet school on cat foods. I tend to feel you get what you pay for, and I prefer to get cat food that has meat listed as the first ingredient. But the main thing to consider is that your cat is the ‘decider’. No matter what you think is the best food, if your cat doesn’t eat it, it will be of no value. The oldest cat I had lived to 15 1/2, losing a battle with thyroid problems, and she had only one type of dry kibble since graduating from kitten chow. Our family had a cat that lived into his 20’s on just run of the mill cat food. The oldest cat I have currently is 13, in perfect health, and has had the same kibble since I got her at age 1. Due to the age spread of my cats, I cannot switch to a senior formulation easily.
