Whats the hardest position to play in baseball?
Ted Williams said hitting a baseball was the hardest thing to do in all sports but a hitter is not a position unless you consider the DH as a position. A great pitcher can completelly take control over a game. Josh Beckett during last year’s playoffs and WS, for example. Catching is hard both physically and because you are managing the game. A catcher needs physical skills and brains. The other tough positions would follow the line from catcher to pitcher to CFer. So, 2nd base, SS, and CF. The only problem is a good athlete can play all those positions with enough playing time. So, although they are important due to their physical position on the baseball diamond that doesn’t make them inately hard. I am going to revise the question and say what is the position which is hardest to master and has the most influence on the game? I don’t think that changes your question, either.
