Whats the function of repeaters and regenerators for communication and how are they used.?
One of the biggest problems with wireless communication is getting the signals to travel very long distances from a single antenna, as the strength of the signal decreases exponentially the further away you are from the source. To ease this problem, they’ve come up with repeaters, which read an incoming signal from the original source and rebroadcast it. However, this brings up a different problem, and that is that if you have two signals on the same frequency, they will interfere. So instead of using the original frequency, repeaters take the CONTENT of the original signal and rebroadcast it on a different channel so it won’t interfere with the original signal. Repeaters are used in a variety of applications, but almost all of them are in some form of wireless communication. They are mainly used in HAM and CB radio applications, where you generally have a mobile transmission station which must transmit many miles to get to the other end of the line. This is the case in police radios,
