Whats the function of photosynthetic pigments in the light reactions of photosynthesis.?

0

There are various photosynthetic pigments and they perform different functions .Chief is chlorophyll (green pigment) which can directly trap photons from the sunlight and utilize for preparing food i.e photosynthesis, It also imparts green colour to plants.Other photosynthetic pigments like carotenoids and phycobilins indirectly participate in the photosynthesis by trapping photons from different wavelength of light and passing it to chlorophylls for photosynthesis as they are not capable of this function.
