Whats the fastest way to break in a softball glove?
Would you dunk your new leather jacket in water and freeze it? I didn’t think so, that would be the quickest way to ruin it. Everyone in the world will have different methods of breaking in a glove. But the two objectives will not change from any perspective. You are trying to loosten the leather and form a pocket. With that goal in mind, oiling the glove is esential to loosening and conditioning. Some people say to use Neatsfoot but I prefer to keep my gloves a little longer and that crap will ruin leather in about 2 years. You can use a petroleum based oil such as Vaseline or use a lanolin based like Lexol Leather Conditioner. Lexol does make a Neatsfoot/Lanolin mixed product if you still prefer. But as far as leather care, if you have any leather conditioner laying around for golf shoes or leather shoes that will do fine. You only need a small amount in the hinge area of the glove.
