Whats the farthest the Enterprise ever went toward the edge of the Galaxy on Star Trek?

In the original Star Trek they went out of the galaxy. Space looked all pink, I think they were going warp 13 or 14. I recall two probes collided, one was built to exterminate pests and the other was built to exterminate discover new life, the programs got crossed and the machine started to see sentient life as pests that needed to be exterminated. The machine thought James T. Kirk was it’s creator and it liked Spock for his orderly brain, but was hostile to everyone else. I think there was another episode where they left the galaxy too. I don’t remember as much about it other than that some aliens came from the Andromeda galaxy and took over the Enterprise.
