Whats the expected arrival date of the new Haz-Mat vehicle?
At the present time, the new Haz-Mat response vehicle is near completion and tentatively scheduled for delivery sometime in October. In addition, most of the equipment needed for response has been identified and acquired. The Fire Department also recently completed a Haz-Mat Technician Training Course to certify a number of prospective unit members. If all goes as planned, we hope to establish the West Hawaii Haz-Mat Unit in early 2006 and base it out of one of our existing stations until such time that a new station is built. This addition to our fleet and resource inventory will greatly enhance our ability to effectively serve our community.
