A. In Tarrant County alone, more than 12,000 new jobs were created in 2006, and more than $227 million of natural gas revenue went to taxing jurisdictions. In 2007, the City of Fort Worth anticipates receiving $60 million in lease revenue over and above new taxes. Noted economist Ray Perryman says the Barnett Shale has a $5 billion annual economic impact on this area, leading to an average of 108,000 jobs per year through 2015.
