Whats the easiest way to get rid of spider mites from my houseplants?
There is no ‘easy’ way I’m sorry to say. Yes, one can use pesticides if they want to contaminate their living space with poison chemical sprays. One of the most reliable ways to rid your plants of unwanted pests is to wash them with soap. We used Murphy’s Oil Soap or Ivory, Dr. Bronners is also very good, but more expensive. You mix the soap with hot water and use a good bit of soap, the object is to suffocate the pests. Then wash the leaves, top and bottom, let the soapy water wash down stalks and penetrate the soil as well. You will need to repeat this again in a week, and probably do so for a couple of weeks. This will take care of spider mites,(or really any mites) scale, and any other pest your plants may have. Before bringing home a new plant, always closely examine the leaves for pests. If you see any sign, don’t buy any plant from that store. Chances are if ones got them they all do. Infestation doesn’t take long. You can also spray the mixture on your plants to kill the pests
