Whats the difference between Wire EDM and Conventional EDM?
Invented in the early 1980’s- Wire EDM uses brass wire available in different diameters, as well as a specially induced electrical current to slice thru conductive materials while under deionized water. It is controlled via CNC movements. It is considered one of the most accurate forms of machining in the World. The shapes and contours that Wire EDM can make, has opened up a complete new world in Machining. Conventional EDM was invented in the 1960’s, the process is conducted with a Graphite or Tungsten Electrode machined to the desired shape, it then uses a special induced electrical current to burn the conductive material away while under a oil called ( Dielectric fluid). It can make shapes in metal that are otherwise unachievable.
