Whats the difference between vertical and horizontal?
The most obvious difference between horizontal and vertical mixers is their structure. Vertical mixers are comprised of one or two large vertical augers, while horizontal mixers have three or four long horizontal augers. Vertical mixers increase maximum mixing capacity by approximately 10%. They can handle unlimited amounts of roughage. Horizontal mixers have trouble processing larger commodities such as large round or square bales. Vertical mixers will last you 70% longer than Horizontal mixers. Since Vertical mixers don’t have any large sprockets and chains to replace, the maintenance is drastically reduced.
