It depends on the kind of student you were as an undergrad. If you are used to working hard, managing your time well, doing all the assigned reading, and actively participating in class discussion, then there won’t be a huge difference between undergraduate and graduate school for you. If you are used to partying a lot and doing everything at the last minute, then you’ll be in for a wake-up call when you get to graduate school. I was one of the latter. My wake-up call came in my first graduate course. Only four students, so I had no problem with class discussion and doing the reading, but I assumed I’d slide by doing all the work at the last minute with little energy towards research.
