What’s the difference between transformer balanced and electronically balanced stages?
A balanced input or output using transformers provides true isolation (known as galvanic isolation). Electronically balanced stages avoid the inherent weaknesses introduced by transformers, but the amplitude of the hum loop to be isolated (common mode) is limited by the amplifiers supply voltages.
