The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) is granted to a student who has completed a minimum of 30 credits (18 compulsory and 12 optional), a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement and must pass the provincial secondary school literacy test. The Ontario Secondary School Certificate (OSSC) is granted to a student who leaves school before completing the requirements for the OSSD as long as they’ve earned a minimum of 14 credits (7 compulsory and 7 optional). There is no community involvement or literacy test requirements. The Certificate of Accomplishment is granted to a student who leaves school before completing the requirements for the OSSC.
