Theft can be anywhere. Taking of someones property it includes identity theft, credit cards and real property. Taking a wallet or other item out of an unlocked car is theft…breaking into a locked car and taking the same wallet is burglary. Theft under $400.00 is a misdomeaner $400.00 and over is a felony. There are other stipulations as to types of thefts. But this is the basic. Kicking down a door to enter a dwelling with the intent to harm someone and hiiting that person with a baseball bat in the head.. You can be charged with burglary, assault with a deadly weapon,and quite a few lesser crimes. Hoped this helped.
