Whats the difference between the two levels of certification?

Each school district may determine which level of certification they want to require for a given job. According to the Code, a School Library Media Specialist (who holds a master’s degree) can work independently whereas an Associate School Library Media Specialist must be supervised by a certified school administrator, principal, or supervisor. In general, elementary schools tend to require the associate level and high schools tend to require the master’s level, but there are exceptions.
