Whats the difference between the New King James Version and the New International Version of the Bible?
Well, both are very scholarly translations with **different audiences** in mind. The NIV contains conservative evangelical bias and simplified (7th grade) language but otherwise is one of the top English translations available today. It’s intended audience in conservative Protestants who want an easy-to-read Bible and who are not hung up on the King James Version. It is scholarly and uses the most well-authenticated source texts available. The NKJV is, if possible, an even more scholarly translation. However, it makes use of (practically speaking) the same source texts that were used by the translators of the KJV, *and* it attempts to use the same style of wording (though modernized) as is found in the KJV. Because of this, the NKJV employs some fairly questionable renderings (just as does the KJV) in a few passages, and *also* it relies on a late source manuscript for the New Testament that is *not* well-authenticated – just as did the translators of the KJV.
