What’s the difference between the job of a Dietitian and a Public Health Nutritionist?
When we open a newspaper or switch on the television, we are bombarded with messages about food and nutrition. Whether that is headlines about hospital malnutrition, the latest weight loss diet, health claims about a new food or the role of specific nutrients in the management of disease. There is a lot of interest in food and nutrition and consequently a high demand for evidence-based scientific information about nutrition. Dietitians and Public Health Nutritionists are both nutrition professionals who understand the scientific nutrition evidence base and can apply that knowledge to improve the health of individuals and groups. Our BSc (Hons) Human Nutrition and Dietetics is a four year course which enables graduates to become Registered Dietitians with the Health Professions Council. Alternatively our BSc (Hons) Public Health Nutrition is a three year course which has been designed to enable graduates to apply to become Registered Public Health Nutritionists with the UK Nutrition Soc
