Whats the difference between the Glock 17 and the Glock 17 Factory Compensated (“C”) model?

Glocks are excellent defensive pistols. The Glock 17 is a service size accurate, high capacity, reliable 9mm that will digest any 9mm ammo including the +P+. An advantage with the Glock is that the Polymer frame absorbs a lot of the recoil. With a full-size 9mm recoil becomes a moot point. The Glock Model 17-C is a factory compensated Model 17. Personally I have no use for compensated medium bore handguns. The holes drilled at the end of the barrel result in slight power lose, more muzzle blast and more unnecessary flash (especially at night). If a 9mm recoils so much that you need a compensator then consider switching to a smaller handgun or use lower recoil ammo (like the subsonic). If you are in highly competitive shooting competition then a compensated Model 17 will give you a slight edge but if that were the case you’d be better off with the long-slide Glock.
