Whats the difference between the ATMOSPHERE Air Purifier and the ionizer-type air cleaners I hear so much about?
The ATMOSPHERE Air Purifier features a three stage filtration system with a pre filter, a carbon filter, and a true HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter, that removes particles and pollutants from the air. Ionizer-type air cleaners, such as the Ionic Breeze, use electronically charged plates to “trap” particles. Testing by an independent laboratory found these air cleaners were ineffective in removing dust, smoke, and other particles from the air and could also expose users to potentially harmful ozone levels. This situation could be a concern to people with asthma, respiratory illnesses, or other allergy concerns.
