Whats the difference between static and dynamic IP addressing?
Dynamic IP address:
If you reset the modem and the IP address will change, then it is said to be Dynamic IP address.Dynamic IP address is suitable for browsing purpose.
Static IP address:
If you reset the modem and IP address will not change and remains same hence it is Static IP address.Static IP or dedicated IP address is suitable for website. It helps to get more traffic. You can get the IP address from your Interner Service Provider(ISP).
You can check the IP address using the site IP-Details.com .This site gives the information like ISP(Internet Service Provider),IP location, country, latitude, longitude etc..
A static IP address is one that is manually allocated to the customer’s equipment and remains the same unless manually changed. A Dynamic IP Address is an IP Address dynamically allocated to the customer’s equipment upon boot up. In some cases dynamically allocated addresses change with each boot-up. With OBS, a Public IP address will always remain the same while a Private IP address normally remains unchanged.
There are actually two ways of assigning IP numbers: static and dynamic. Static IP numbers are permanently assigned to a computer. Dynamic IP numbers are only assigned to a computer at the time it connects with the Internet. Dynamic IP numbers can change every time the computer reconnects to the Internet. Dynamic IP numbers are used to maximize the use of the numbers available to an organization or an Internet Provider. Printed from http://www.boycott-riaa.
