Whats the difference between Social Sciences and Liberal Arts?
It sounds as though you are Australian and although I’m American, I would like to offer some advice. What you describe aren’t really courses–they are programs of study which comprise many difference courses. Social science is a part of the liberal arts curriculum. The liberal arts curriculum comprises social science, humanities, math, science, and so forth. Examples of social science include psychology, sociology, anthropology, and economics. Success at social science requires some skill with statistics and quantitative data. You should be good at identifying cause and effect, especially when it is indirect. You should also be free of prejudice and have an open mind. In general, social scientists study people and their behavior. The term liberal arts is more general and includes such subjects as literature (and writing), history, philosophy, religion, math, music and art, and all the sciences.
