Whats the difference between Silage and Haylage?

0

(UK terms) silage is grass which has been cut and wilted(dryed using mother nature) for a short space of time 1/2 days and then is either chopped and stored under plastic covers (silage pit) or baled and wrapped in plastic (silage bales).Haylage is in between silage and hay ie. it’s not as wet as normal silage nor is it totally dry like hay.Haylage is only wrapped in bales because if not wrapped they would go mouldy and rotten over time.Haylage is useful because you get high dry matter and good energy aswell in 1.
