Whats the difference between show and companion dogs?
All dogs, show or companion, are first and foremost family members. They are loyal friends and companions first, and, optionally, show dogs second. Show dogs are those extraordinary ones that have a good chance of winning their championship in the conformation ring, based on their correct structure and conformation to the breed standard. Companion dogs may have one or more characteristics that decrease their chances of winning. Often these are very minor faults that would go unnoticed to the untrained eye, such as a slightly lighter eye color, a tail that curls slightly to the side, etc. As long as the dog is healthy and has good temperament, a minor fault will not affect your thorough enjoyment of your dog, nor his ability to be your loyal friend and companion.
