FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec. As the name implies, it is a free format for distributing audio at true CD quality. SHN is an abbreviation for Shorten, a lossless compression scheme also popular among tape traders. Some shows on nugs.net are available for download in both SHN and MP3 formats, while some are available in FLAC and MP3.
