Whats the difference between serif and sans-serif?
A serif is the short line added to the top and bottom of characters in certain typographies, like Times Roman, Palatino and Book Antiqua. A sans-serif font is a font without that little typeface detail, such as Arial, Verdana and Lucidia. Sans is the French word for without, sans-serif literally meaning, without the serif. On the left is the serif font Times New Roman, with the serifs highlighted in red. On the right is the sans-serif font Arial.
