A screening is a procedure that an ultrasound technician does that includes a brief examination of an area and tells you if there is a problem. A diagnostic test lets you know that there is a problem and also what the problem is. It includes a full diagnostic report that you can take to your doctor and further discuss the problem without repeating the test. With screening, if a problem is found, your doctor will require a full diagnostic test.
