Whats the difference between saving a file at 72dpi versus 600 dpi?

If you want to reproduce an image the exact same size as the original, it doesn’t matter what the dpi (dots per inch) of your file is – your copy will match exactly. However, if you want to enlarge it, you will lose quality the more the original has to expand the dpi to cover the page. The result is a pixilated or ‘fuzzy’ image. The higher the dpi the better quality you’ll have in enlarged copies, so if you want a poster of over-sized copy, save your original file at the highest dpi available.
