What’s the difference between Sanitary Sewer and Storm Sewer?
Sanitary Sewer: Collects wastewater leaving your home or business such as: toilet water, shower, washing machine, dishwasher, etc… Storm Sewer (storm drain): Is the grate in the street at the curb that collects rainwater. It is very important not to throw trash and/or chemicals down the storm drain as they discharge directly into our creeks and streams. In Hamilton, the sanitary sewer and the storm drain systems are not combined.
