Whats the difference between RGB, CMYK and Pantone colours?
RGB stands for red, green and blue, and represents the 3 colours of transmitted light a monitor uses to mix colour. CMYK (called a ‘process colour’) stands for cyan, magenta, yellow and black, and represents the 4 colours of ink a printer uses to mix colour – the colour being created by light wavelengths absorbed by the ink. As one uses (added) transmitted light, and another uses (subtracted) absorbed light, printed colours generally look duller than onscreen colours. And as printers and monitors vary from make to make and model to model, exact colour reproduction can be a tricky thing.
