Whats the difference between permanent and demi-permanent haircolor?
Permanent Hair Color • Permanent hair color permanently alters the natural pigment of your hair and has the ability to lighten. Permanent hair color is designed to penetrate the hair cuticle. Ammonia or similar ingredients help open the hair cuticle so that the small dye molecules may penetrate the hair. • Permanent hair color requires oxidation to work, so it must be mixed with developer. It is capable of lightening natural hair pigment using ammonia (or another catalyst) combined with hydrogen peroxide in the developer in order to lighten the hair. • Permanent hair color offers the best gray coverage. Demi-Permanent Hair Color • Demi-permanent hair color is similar to a no-lift permanent hair color. It requires oxidation in order to process the color (must be mixed with developer) which lends to nice color penetration but the chemical composition usually allows minimal to no hair lightening. It fades faster than permanent hair color. Demi-permanent hair color does not contain ammonia
