What’s the difference between parkour, free-running and tricking?
Whilst it doesn’t particularly matter what you call this stuff, there are fundamental differences between the three. Parkour: The aim of parkour is to move from one point to another as efficiently and quickly as possible, using predominantly the abilities of the human body to overcome obstacles, which could be anything in the surrounding environment — from branches and rocks to rails and concrete walls. People who practise this are known as traceurs. Tricking: Tricking is similar to the acrobatic aspect of gymnastics, involving many flips, tricks and kicks, except it is often practised outside in a similar environment to parkour, rather than being confined to a gym. The emphasis is on style as opposed to the efficiency of parkour.
