Whats the difference between natural gas and propane?

0

Natural gas is mainly methane (CH4) but there is usually a very, very small amount of ethane, propane and butane in most natural gas. A cubic foot of natural gas has about 1000 btus in it. It has one carbon atom and four hydrogen atoms and is usually a gas unless it is very cold (about -258 degs F) Propane is C3H8 and usually contains a very small amout of ethane and butane. It has 3 carbon atoms and 8 hydrogen atoms. A cubic foot of propane vapor has about 2300 btus. It is also a vapor at atmospheric pressure but can be liquified at about 200 psi and 100 degs F.
