Whats the difference between Monosaccharides, Disaccharides & Polysaccharides?
Monosaccharides are single carbohydrate molecules, like ribose, fructose, or glucose. Disaccharides are 2 monosaccharides joined chemically, such as sucrose (table sugar, composed of glucose and fructose) or lactose (milk sugar, made of glucose and galactose). Polysaccharides are 3 or more (usually several hundred monosaccharides chemically joined, such as glycogen, starch, or cellulose. They are all carbohydrates and are all forms of sugars.
