Whats the difference between monophonic, polyphonic, true-tones and Alert Tones?
A. True-tone Ringtones offer a much wider variety of sounds; music based on an original sound recording with vocals and a variety of other sounds such impersonations etc. In some situations true-tones ringtones can be quieter to hear than Polyphonic ringtones, so using the vibrate feature on your mobile phone is a good idea to ensure you don’t miss a call. Alert Tones are a type of true-tone and enable you to change the tone you hear when you receive an SMS, MMS or an email. Instead of hearing the standard tone you can choose an Alert Tone of 5-8 seconds such as music, an impersonation and other sounds. Polyphonic Ringtones are made up of up to 16 different instruments rather than just one, these ringtones almost sound like the real thing but have no vocals. Great if you need to hear your phone ring somewhere noisy as they tend to have a higher pitch. Monophonic Ringtones are the old style ringer where you hear one note at a time.
