Whats the difference between moisturizer and tinted moisturizer?

0

Moisturizer is a cream or lotion applied to the face and neck to prevent dryness to the skin.  It should be applied to a clean face and can be used both morning and night, and even as a touch up during the day.  Women, particularly, use moisturizers to beautify their skin and prevent wrinkles.  At least, that is the advertising message cosmetic companies promise in an effort to entice women to use their products.

Many companies use top models or actresses in their ads in the hope that women who see them will believe they too will have glorious skin when they use the products advertised.  Most people don’t realize the photographs of the lovely ladies are retouched to within an inch of their lives, artistically shot by top photographers and with lighting and expensive fashions supplied by the very best technicians and stylists in the business.

A tinted moisturizer provides double duty, being both a makeup and moisturizer designed to cover flaws and keep the face moist, but not (heaven forbid) shiny or gooey looking.

Many moisturizers also include sun block, which is thrown in as an extra added incentive to purchase.  In that case, the customer gets a cosmetic trifecta and for women who like a bargain, three products in one add up to a good deal.

Moisturizers are the mainstay of most cosmetic companies, with prices ranging from a drugstore bottom to a glamorous department store top.  You can count on spending anywhere from about $5 US Dollars to many hundreds of dollars for a moisturizer, depending on the manufacturer.

Moisturizer has no colour pigmentation for make up and generally has more “good for your skin” properties. Tinted moisturizer is a way to wear make up easily, and quickly while incorporating it into your daily routine. However I would never replace my moisturizer with tinted moisturizer, and i rarely use tinted moisturizer, unless i’m in a serious rush, i have it in my car. Although I see no problem in applying it twice a day, you will get double the coverage and i think it would really be easier to apply your moisturizer and make up separetly if you’re doing it twice anyways. A simple routine: wash, tone, moisturize, primer, foundation, and set it with a mineral powder set (Bare Escentuals has a great foundation setter can be found at Sephora). this way your skin gets all the benefits of a proper moisturizer, and you don’t have to apply your make up twice!
