Whats the difference between MIT and Computer Science (CIS)?
The Computer Science department, also known as the CIS department (Computer and Information Science), is an academic department. We teach and do research in Computer Science. CIT, the Computing and Information Technology Office, is a staff office. It creates and supports all the computing infrastructure at Spelman, including networks, email, PCs and so forth. They have a web page, but you can reach them by phone at extension 5395. The professors in the Computer Science department are generally too busy with teaching and research to help students with their personal computers, or the machines in the PC labs.
