Whats the difference between main NTs and U21 NTs?
The difference is obvious for all those who are used to International football. U21 teams can only have players with 21 years old or less. Main NTs can have players from all ages. Then why do I see U21 teams with players over 22 years old? That’s a special case and only happens during the U21 World Cup. As players age at the season transition, it would be extremely unfair to “lock” players that were 21 years old in the previous season and that started the U21 campaign with 20 years of age. So, U21 National Team managers will be able to have these players at their squad during the WC only. But, and this is very important, they have to have them in the squad before the season changes.
